Restaurants/Ice Cream Stands
Das Village Haus, Market Street. Will make special arrangements so you and your pet can eat on the grassy area.
Poor John’s Ice Cream Stand, James Street. They will allow your well-behaved pet to sit next to you at a picnic table. They also serve burgers and dogs (the edible kind).
Lil’ River Fudge Company, James Street. They have benches outside for you to sit on. They have doggy ice cream.
Restaurants/Ice Cream Stands Cont.
North Star Restaurant, Route 12. They have outside picnic tables and will allow you to sit outside and eat with your pet.
Felder’s Ice Cream Stand, Route 37, Redwood, NY. They have outside picnic tables for you and your pet. They serve doggy ice cream. If you want more than ice cream you can visit their deli which is right next door where they serve pizza, burgers and more that you can also bring outside to eat on the picnic tables. They also are host to Yappy Hour on occasion.
Subway, located at the Alex Bay 500 Go-Kart Track in Alex Bay. They have picnic tables for eating outdoors with your pet.
Attractions
· Uncle Sam’s Boat Tours, James Street. Well-behaved pets are welcomed on the boat cruise with the exception of lunch and dinner cruises. Staff reserves the right to allow pets according to size, breed and behavior.
· Boldt Castle, Heart Island. If your pet makes the boat cruise, pets are welcomed at Boldt Castle, but are not allowed inside the buildings. Please, as you should with all pets, clean up after your pet while you are visiting.
· Alex Bay 500 Go-Karts, Route 12, Alexandria Bay, NY. Pets are allowed on the grounds but are not allowed inside the buildings or in the attraction area. Picnic tables are provided for seating.
· Mazeland, Route 12, Alexandria Bay. The owners of this attraction welcome you and your well-behaved pet to walk through their mazes. Jen even has spare leashes and dog doo bags if you happen to forget your own.
· Bay Drive-In Theater, Bailey Settlement Rd., just outside of Alex Bay. Dogs are welcomed at the drive in and may even receive a treat at the door.
Swimming Locations·
Alexandria Bay Village Beach. Pets are not allowed on the Beach during normal hours. If you travel to the left of the beach between two small buildings, you can take your pet swimming there. Pets are allowed in the park area as long as you clean up after them.· The area is filled with many public boat launches. These are normally fairly shallow and easily accessible to pets. We normally take our labs to the Hyde Lake Boat Launch, just outside of Plessis, NY. Redwood is home to many public boat launches as well. Just stop in any of the local stores to find out which ones are closest.
Campgrounds·
NY State Parks. The Thousand Islands Area is rich with State Campgrounds. All of the NYS Parks are pet friendly. Pets must be leashed and vaccinated and you are required to prove it. Parks within the Alexandria Bay area are: Wellesley Island State Park; DeWolf Point State Park; Keewaydin State Park; Grass Point State Park; Krings Point State Park; and there are several others that fall just outside the Alexandria Bay boundaries.
